Fonts Assignment #2:
Work with a partner, and find fonts that match the clients' ideas. Write each client name in the font you chose.
For finding and exploring different styles of fonts, I recommend DaFont, FontRiver, and FontSpace.
(NOTE: Do not try to install the fonts, I'll show you how to do text previews online in the sites listed)
TO SUBMIT THE ASSIGNMENT:
- Put each client name in the font you chose to best match the message the client wants to send. Use Command+Shift+4 and highlight the area you want to take a screenshot of to save it to the desktop. Use Command+Control+Shift+4 and highlight the area you want to take a screenshot of to save it to the clipboard.
- Cite what the font name is and what website you got it from.
- Write a short explanation of why you chose it.
- Assemble the info for presentation to the clients and save as a digital file for print (Set it up in whatever program you prefer, save or export to PDF, DOC, etc. Try to keep it on one or two pages maximum)
Your clients and their requests are:
1. Lucien Attire: A high class clothing store specializing in formal wear, suits, and Italian dress shoes
2. McCarthy Builders: A construction company that uses heavy machines, wanting a strong logo with clean lines
3. Manta: A new computer brand that wants to look as sleek as Mac, but not just copy the Mac font (legal issues, you know)
4. Zigler's Fun Park: A kids' amusement park that wants to look, well, amusing ... but safe enough for Mom to trust
5. Apollo: A shoe company specializing in running shoes
6. Nature's Delight: A snack food (think potato chips) company that sells healthy versions of snack foods
7. Makes Scents: A store that sells scented candles and body lotion that wants to look approachable, warm
8. Octane Coffee: A coffee shop that wants to look energetic, and emphasize the power of their coffee
9. eXtreme sprytZ: A sugary soft drink company that wants to look fun and crazy
10. Excelsior Ventures: An investment company that wants to look reliable and stable, but not intimidating
*Extra Credit*: Come up with your own client name and request, then find a font that matches and describe why the font matches your company's image. Be creative!
(due at the end of class on Monday, April 28)
