Part 1: SEND A MESSAGE or TELL A STORY (save your file as sendamessage.yourname.psd)
If you choose to Send a Message:
Take a famous image, photo, or work of art and add something to the picture so that the image sends a message. You may not use text -- any viewer should be able to tell what your message is just by looking at the image. (Let me know what your message is in the comments section of the Submit Your Work page so I know if I'm correctly interpreting the message you meant to send).
In class you saw the family from American Gothic taking selfies. What message does that send? How about Mona Lisa visiting a Starbucks?
If you choose to Tell a Story:
Like the other option, start with an existing work of art, image, or picture (does not need to be famous) and add artistic elements to the picture so that the image tells a complex story. One big difference here is that you may write one sentence to provide context. Between your sentence and the modified image, I should be able to infer the story you are telling. (Let me know what your story is in the comments section of the Submit Your Work page so I know if I'm reading your work correctly).
In class you saw the family from American Gothic with aliens and the text "It all started when John tried on his new hat" and The House on Maple Street "It was a perfect lift-off".

Part 2: MAKE A PARODY OF A FAMOUS IMAGE (save your file as makeaparody.yourname.psd)
Choose a famous work of art, image, or picture and make a parody of it. Change the characters, objects, and/or background etc. of the image to make a parody.
Maybe the Adventure Time crew are exploring the wasteland of Salvador Dali's Melting Clocks. Maybe the family from American Gothic was attacked by aliens. Maybe Aperture Laboratories (Portal) took over the house from Escher's Relativity. Make up your own parody for this part of the project.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Part 3: REMIX TWO FAMOUS IMAGES, TOGETHER (save your file as remixtwo.yourname.psd)
Pick two famous images, pictures, or works of art and make them into one image.
Examples I showed in class included: Che Guevarra in the style of Obama's Change poster and Casually Pepperspray casually pepperspraying Captain America. Make your own mash-up
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This project (all three parts) is due by the end of class on Friday, May 23. (due date will NOT be extended. Please have all projects that we've worked on so far submitted at this time.)
**NOTE:** Please make sure you provide a link (or at least name of image and artist) to any images you use in your project.
I will take off points if you do not do this.
